In 1983, Madeleine Grenier-Laperrière created Éducation-coup-de-fil by designing a service for parents supported by the Notre-Dame-du-Bon-Conseil de Montréal congregation and operated out of the Marie-Gérin-Lajoie centre. We became Première Ressource, aide aux parents in 2014,. For the past 35 years we have helped thousands of parents and children, and are strongly involved in our community.
The organization wishes to have an impact on families in a perspective of support and accompaniment in all communities across Quebec. This is why in 2017, Première Ressource, in collaboration with community and school organizations, opened local services such as our mobile individual consultation clinics and conferences on various themes related to parenting, education and family.
Première Ressource supports parents and their children from 0 to 18 years of age on a daily basis through free and confidential consultations by phone, email or chat, in French or English, with no time limit. The consultations concern concrete issues of the parent's reality. We firmly believe that parents are their child's primary educator.
When parenting and educational issues require a deeper understanding, Première Ressource is here. For a small everyday question or for a more complex case, we are always here for you.
MISSION
To support parents in the acquisition and maintenance of parenting skills in order to provide children with a family environment favourable to their development.
VISION
Première Ressource, aide aux parents aims to be an actor of social change that operates throughout all Quebec communities
A SYSTEMIC APPROACH THAT ENCOURAGES EMPOWERMENT
Through a systemic approach, the Première Ressource team identifies and analyzes the needs raised by the parents and provides them with avenues for reflection, taking into account their particular situation and that of their children. Interventions are based on empowerment (regaining one's power as a parent), while respecting their values. We favour an action-oriented approach and the search for concrete solutions. Our interventions support the acquisition and maintenance of parenting skills in order to provide children with a family environment favourable to their development.
